Investigators Coming to Iceland

Published September 14, 2009

Investigators from the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) of Great Britain are on their way to Iceland.
In particular, the SFO seeks to investigate a possible connection between Kaupþing and the British sportswear chains JJB Sports and Sports Direct.
According to the Manchester Business News, “The SFO and the Office and Fair Trading last week confirmed they were investigating the two sportswear chains for suspected illegal price fixing.
“JJB has blown the whistle on its rival, handing over documents to the OFT in exchange for provisional immunity.
“Documents leaked on the website Wikileaks revealed that Kaupthing lent 6.4 billion euros to companies connected to just six clients, four of whom were its own shareholders.”
