Iceland’s Population At A Standstill In 2010

Iceland’s population of 318.200 has remained roughly the same this year, according to a Statistics Iceland report.
In the third quarter of 2010, there were 1.300 births and 490 deaths in the country. There was a net migration of -510, with 920 Icelandic citizens emigrating. At the same time, the number of foreign citizens migrating to Iceland increased, with a net migration of 410.
In 2009, Iceland’s net migration was -4,835 with 10,612 people leaving the country in a record number of emigrations.
