From Iceland — Icelandic Artist Makes Bid On Most Expensive Apartment

Icelandic Artist Makes Bid On Most Expensive Apartment

Published August 7, 2012

Artist Snorri Ásmundsson has made a bid on the most expensive apartment in Manhattan – $25 day for the next 12,000 years.
Snorri, shown above when he ran for mayor in 2002, is an artist who has long had a reputation for creating “happenings”. Apart from the mayoral bid, he had also set up a phone number for the general public to call him for advice, made a presidential run, and created a series of Healing Paintings, among many other events.
In a statement to the press, the artist announced that he has made a bid for an 8,000m2 apartment in Manhattan. The apartment’s real estate agent hopes to get at least $100 million for it.
Under the heading “New Icelandic Outvasion”, referring to the pre-crash venture capitalists who built businesses across Europe, Snorri has made the following bid to the real estate agent:

Dear Raphael
My offer is this: 25$ per day every day for 12.000 years. Total =109.572.750.$
My budget at the moment does not allowe me to offer better than this and I dont want to lose this great appartment. Will you consider this?
Sincerely
Snorri Asmundsson
