Icelander Breaks Crossfit Record

Published July 16, 2012

Yesterday, Annie Mist Þórisdóttir became the first repeat champion in the history of the CrossFit Games, beating out the competition by a considerable margin.
Annie Mist, as she is better known in Iceland, won CrossFit last year, to considerable fanfare and controversy, and sought to compete again this year. The official site of the games now reports that Annie Mist has done it again, taking victory by an 85-point margin.
Speaking to Morgunblaðið shortly after her win, Annie Mist said, beaming, “Of course I entered the competition with the goal to win again, but this is ridiculous.”
While Annie was determined to defend her title this year, she remains uncertain of next year, describing the experience of this competition as “an unbelievable, emotional rollercoaster.”
At the close of the competition, Annie Mist reportedly intended to go to a local Cheesecake Factory to celebrate with friends and family. She emphasised that the support she has received from her fans in Iceland has been invaluable. “It inspires you to keep going,” she said.
