Free Tax Service This Sunday

Published March 15, 2012

Law students at the University of Reykjavík will be offering free tax consultation this Sunday, and all are welcome to attend.
While filling out an Icelandic tax return is not a complicated process, it can be if you are unfamiliar with how the form works, or do not know what you might be able to deduct. FortPunately, Vísir reports, a solution is at hand for those who need or want help with their taxes.
“We’re just really excited about this day, and hope to see many people,” said Sigríður Marta Harðardóttir, the director of legal services at Lögrétta, the association of law students at the University of Reykjavík. This Sunday, from 11:00 to 17:00, the students will be offering free tax consultation. Completed tax returns will then be submitted on the spot.
“We are 15 to 20 law students, in our third to fifth years,” Sigríður said. “We have studied up on this very well in the past week, and about half of us have done this before.”
The project is being conducted in cooperation with KPMG, Arion Banki and the Human Rights Council of Reykjavík. A Polish interpreter will also be present to provide assistance.
