From Iceland — Father of Accused Fraudster Believes in Her Innocence

Father of Accused Fraudster Believes in Her Innocence

Ingvar J. Karlsson, father of Helga Ingvarsdóttir – who was arrested last Thursday in the US on charges of grand larceny – told Vísir that he believes she is innocent of the allegations against her.
The convoluted and often bizarre story of how Helga, and her partner Vickram Bedi, allegedly extorted composer and heir Roger Davidson of millions of dollars over a period of six years has been widely reported across the internet.
Helga and Bedi are now in police custody facing charges of grand larceny, and could be facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
Helga’s father, Ingvar J. Karlsson, told Vísir that he believes the charges against Helga are without merit. “I’ve heard from her and we’ve been working together on this. I believe in her innocence.” Ingvar is the chairman of the wealthy family trade business Karl K. Karlsson.
In a conversation with DV, foreign ministry staffer Urður Gunnarsdóttir said, “Our involvement in cases like this is often very similar. To provide assistance, get them in touch with people, and get them in touch with a lawyer.”
