A tiny island off of Iceland’s south coast has been receiving attention lately as an ideal location for escaping hordes of the undead.
ViralNova, a web aggregate site, today included a pictorial article on Elliðaey, a small island within the Westman Islands archipelago.
The article provides some interesting – and accurate – facts about the island in question, such as the fact that it used to be inhabited by families who made their living fishing, raising some cattle, and hunting puffins on the cliffs. Over time, the population dispersed and, in 1953, the Hunting Association of Iceland built the house – a hunting lodge – which can be seen in the photos today.
However, ViralNova cautions, “only the Hunting Association members have the privilege of staying there, so a weekend cabin trip is out of the question for us. But one thing is certain – this is the perfect place to hide from zombies.”
This is not the first time Elliðaey has gone viral, either. This article from 2012 addresses several misconceptions about the island that were circulating the internet at that time.
