From Iceland — Blood Needed

Blood Needed

Published November 23, 2010

The Blood Bank is still in need of people to donate, and drives will be ongoing in the capital through this week.
The Blood Bank told Fréttablaðið it was grateful for donations it received yesterday, counted this morning to be some 598 units. However, more blood is still needed – about 800 units more in all – to help patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, and other medical procedures over Christmas and New Years.
The schedule for donations on Snorrabraut 60 in Reyakjvík is as follows:
Today: 8:00-15:00
Wednesday: 8:00-15:00
Thursday: 8:00-19:00
The Blood Bank will also be open in Akureyri, every day from Monday to Thursday, from 8:15 to 14:00, and in Akranes today from 8:00 to 17:00.
We at the Grapevine strongly encourage you to give blood. It’s painless, relaxing, helps other people, and you probably get juice and cookies when you’re done.
