Airport workers are still finding difficulty reaching a collective bargaining agreement with the Icelandic government, and further delays of flights can be expected.

Vísir reports that Kristján Jóhannesson, chairperson of the Association of Airport Workers (FFR), says a final answer on the matter can be expected on Tuesday. The agreement is comprehensive and complicated, he says, as the union covers many different types of airport employees.

“Things are good in some places,” he told reporters. “Not so good in others. We just have to go over some of the key points in our grievances and work on it over Easter.”

There is, however, still a long way to go before an agreement can be reached. Kristján says people should expect flight delays next Wednesday, April 23, and then again on April 25. If an agreement has still not been reached, a general strike will go into effect on April 30.
