About Half Support The Government

Published October 1, 2013

Nearly 50% support the Progressive-Independence Party coalition government, according to a new poll from Gallup.
Gallup noted that there were few changes in party support between now and the previous poll, which was conducted last month.
About 50% of respondents said they support the current coalition government. This is down by less than 1% from last month, and down from their all-time high of 62% during the first month of their administration. Interestingly, the combined total level of support for the coalition parties – the Independence Party (27%) and the Progressives (18%) – is 5% lower than support for the government as a whole.
At the same time, support for the Social Democrats (16%) and the Leftist-Greens (15%) – who ran the previous coalition government – remains relatively unchanged from the previous month.
Among other parties in parliament, Bright Future saw a modest rise from last month, from 9% to 10%, while the Pirates saw a small dip, from 8% to 7%.
About 11% of respondents either did not want to participate in the poll or would not disclose who they would vote for if parliamentary elections were held today, while 7% said they would submit a blank ballot or not vote at all.
